Privacy policy

How information is handled when you use this website.

This policy explains how Wollongong Psychological Medicine handles information in connection with this website. It sits alongside the practice's obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, which govern how your health information is handled as a patient of the practice.

Information collected through this website

This website is a static information site. It has no patient login, no contact form and no database, and it does not ask you to submit personal or health information.

Like most websites, the service that hosts these pages records standard technical information when a page is requested, such as the request time, the page requested and general device and browser information. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. If you choose to load the map on our contact page, or follow a link to an external service, that service may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Contacting us

If you contact us by email or telephone, we collect the information you choose to provide so we can respond to your enquiry. Email is not a secure way to send personal health information. Only send information needed for your referral, with appropriate patient consent. If you have privacy concerns, call reception to discuss how to provide your documents.

Information you provide as a patient of the practice is handled in accordance with our patient privacy obligations and the practice's records management processes.

Referrals and clinical documents

The clinic accepts referrals at reception@wolpsychmed.com.au. The referrers page explains the information required. This is an email pathway, not a secure upload portal. Please contact reception before sending additional clinical records or if you need to discuss another method.

Email is not monitored for urgent assistance. If you are unsure whether your referral has been received, please contact reception rather than resending it repeatedly.

This website has no online form. If a form is introduced in future, it will explain why the information is collected, how it is handled, who can access it, and how to obtain an alternative method of contact.

External services

This website links to services operated by other organisations:

  • Maps and directions. Map and directions links use Google Maps. The map on our contact page is not loaded until you choose to open it, so nothing is requested from Google before then.
  • Online booking. New and existing patients can request appointments through an external booking provider. Its booking panel loads only when you choose to open it. Information you enter there is handled under that provider's terms and privacy policy.

We do not control these services, and their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Access, correction and complaints

You may request access to the personal information the practice holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected if it is inaccurate. Requests, and any privacy concerns or complaints, can be directed to our administration team.

Email reception@wolpsychmed.com.au or telephone 02 4244 2265.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The version published on this page is the current version.
